Following the Presbyterian pattern, the Kirk Session is the governing body of the congregation, and is composed of Elders who have been directly elected by the congregation.
These elders are known as Ruling Elders and working with the Minister of the congregation, who is the Teaching Elder, are officially responsible for the spiritual oversight of the congregation.
The Kirk Session meets about four times a year and discuss issues dealing with the life, witness and the vision of the congregation.
Elders are ordained for life. Elders may also be assigned a district that is a number of families in the congregation for pastoral oversight.
The kirk session has various sub committees that report to the Session on matters such as worship, outreach, eldership and young people.
